On Sunday, August 31, 48-year-old WWE icon John Cena—currently on his retirement tour—secured a victory over internet personality Logan Paul, 30, at WWE Clash in Paris.
The win, coming just weeks after Paul’s Italian wedding to model Nina Agdal, marks Cena’s 99th triumph in a premium live event. Cena and Paul delivered a high-energy, action-packed match, but in the end, Cena sealed the victory with his signature Attitude Adjustment. Following his win, the wrestling icon headed straight to the crowd to celebrate by kissing his wife, Shay Shariatzadeh. Musicians Post Malone and Jelly Roll were spotted in the crowd for the showdown, and both artists took a moment to congratulate WWE legend Cena after his victory.
Paul, who is usually known for his more brazen persona, took to social media on Monday, September 1, expressing genuine thanks to Cena for the match.
"When an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. I wanted a match with John Cena to prove that I not only belong in the business but can bring the best out of the business," Paul wrote in the caption. "Mission accomplished. For me, last night was peak professional wrestling. Fair play to John, an absolute mastermind of the craft. He wrestles better than Pablo Picasso paints… idk if it’ll ever be understood how good he is."
"Although my hand wasn’t raised, I came away with more victories than I can count. Grateful. Go toe to toe with another GOAT, check," he finished, adding a checkmark emoji.
Last year, Cena revealed that 2025 would mark the final chapter of his in-ring career. This farewell tour has been full of surprises, including a contentious run over the summer. With only a few dates left on his schedule, Cena is set to appear at WWE’s upcoming Crown Jewel event in Perth, Australia, and Survivor Series in San Diego. He’s expected to conclude his wrestling journey in December at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
