It was a packed house inside of Atlanta’s Regal Theater for the screenings of Peacock’s new limited-series, Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist.

The series, which is based on the true-crime podcast of the same name, follows the story of a brazen armed robbery that takes place on the night of Muhammad Ali’s highly-publicized 1970 comeback fight. To celebrate, Peacock and Complex invited students from local HBCUs to attend an advanced screening of the first episode ahead of the September 5 premiere on Peacock.

Students from Morehouse College, Spelman College, Clark-Atlanta University and Florida A&M University enjoyed custom Atlanta Influences Everything t-shirts, pizza by Slim & Husky's and music by DJ Thrice Groove. Fight Night follows local Atlanta hustler, Chicken Man (played by Kevin Hart) who throws a party on the night in question. When the stick-up occurs and subsequent drama ensues, Chicken Man is blamed and now has to work to clear his name and reputation before it’s too late.

Show producers Will Packer, Shaye Ogbonna, and Dianne Ashford along with David Banner, who plays Missouri Slim in the series, introduced the packed screenings, which were hosted by Complex’s own Speedy Morman. Several HBCU journalists also connected with producers for an intimate roundtable discussion at the event.

Following the screening, Complex’s Unique was on the ground to capture real time reactions from students, check it out.
