Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne was known for his larger-than-life persona and raw honesty. Osbourne often spoke candidly about death and the legacy he hoped to leave behind, including the unexpected song he wanted played at his funeral.

In an interview with NME, the rocker revealed a series of songs that influenced him the most throughout his life. In an ironic twist, he also revealed the song he wanted people to remember him with.

Osbourne chose The Beatles' “A Day in the Life” from the album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. He said in 2016, “I really need a few more years to think this over, but probably something from Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band or Revolver.

He added, “I definitely don’t want my f*****g greatest hits album. I never ever play that thing.”

“And I definitely don’t want a f*****g happy song – I’m dead.”

Osbourne’s love for The Beatles was well known. He cited them as one of his major musical influences growing up.

He famously said, “It was like going to bed in a black and white world and waking up and it turned to color. That’s exactly what it felt like.”

Osbourne added, “We came out of World War II and the whole thing. We had strict rules to live by. And it was that they broke the doors down for so many people and they gave freedom to the world.”

Osbourne was laid to rest on July 30 in Birmingham, England. He died on Tuesday, July 22 at the age of 76.

Upon his death, his family released a statement: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family's privacy at this time."
