Rami Malek unintentionally caused a little girl to cry after informing her that he wasn't Bruno Mars.
The actor portrayed late musician Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, but a child thought Malek was a dead ringer for Bruno when she ran into him at a Los Angeles Dodgers game. Malek, who stars in upcoming period drama Nuremberg, recounted the moment on a live taping of podcast Happy Sad Confused, per People.
"I was at a Dodgers baseball game, and this sweet little girl came up to me and said, 'Can I have your autograph?' And I said, 'Sure,'" Malek said during the show.
"And she showed me a picture of Bruno Mars, and I said, 'Oh, I'm sorry, I’m not him,'" he continued about the mix-up. "She took a beat and then she wept. I took her picture and I signed it Bruno."
It wouldn't be the first time that Malek pretended to be someone else. The actor has a twin brother, Sami, and revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2015 that he did a Greek monologue in place of his brother in college.
"I deliver this monologue in front of the entire lecture hall and I get a few applause, people dig it," Malek said on the talk show. "And I think she starts looking at me kind of accusatory like, 'Where the hell did you come up with that? I watched you this whole this whole year there was nothing like that going on.'"
Malek's former Mr. Robot costar, Christian Slater, also jumped in with a memory of being compared to another 1980s movie star during the live podcast. "Yesterday, I was waiting for my daughter to come home on the bus from school, and this guy [went], 'Oh, hey, Kevin!' I get Kevin Bacon."
