Kim Kardashian might've stolen the show during the 2025 Academy Museum Gala, but her makeup artist wasn't amused.

While The Kardashians star attended the Saturday (October 18) event in Los Angeles, she spoke to Variety on the carpet about her nude Maison Margiela couture gown, which veiled her face.

"You know, I love Margiela," Kardashian told the outlet. "I flew in my favorite makeup artist Mario [Dedivanovic] from New York, and this is kind of a last-minute thing, so I’m sure he’s not so happy with it."

The SKIMS founder assured that she was in "full hair and makeup" beneath the disguise, which she shared in an Instagram carousel.

"It does look very SKIMS-y," she told Variety. "That’s why I was drawn to it when the Margiela couture show came out. I saw this look and I was like, 'That is so Skims to me.'"

Kardashian's Academy look closely resembles her black Balenciaga head mask and bodysuit that she wore during the 2021 Met Gala, after she forged a relationship with the brand through her then-husband, Ye.

But her nude colored mask most closely resembled what Ye wore in 2021 during one of his DONDA listening sessions.

Kardashian also discussed SKIMS' new furry 'Ultimate Bush' thong collection, which went viral immediately upon its release last week, and had its share of detractors.

"That was just a fun idea that I had. There was a shoot, and someone wanted to, like, have hair down there once. And I was like, ‘Couldn’t this just be easy and have it on a thong?'"

She continued, "And so we made that happen. I had no idea that it would get that reaction and sell out in a few minutes."

ComplexCon returns to Las Vegas on October 25–26, 2025, with over 300 brands and live performances by Young Thug, YEAT & Friends, Peso Pluma, Central Cee, Ken Carson, and more. Get your tickets now.
