While postpartum, Hailey Bieber was met with speculation about her marriage to Justin Bieber meeting its end.
The Rhode Skin founder discussed her marriage being targeted in a new Vogue cover story, which was published on Tuesday (May 20). The couple, who've been married for roughly seven years, share a 9-month-old son, Jack Blues.
In the story, Hailey said that she's grown to accept herself "so much more" than she has before, developing a resistance to negativity.
"There’s an ease that comes with it, a confidence," said the model and entrepreneur. “You really start to give less of a fuck about so many things. You’re just like, I don’t have the time, actually. I don’t have the energy."
While Hailey's husband gave his input, sharing that because his wife is "in the spotlight," she "makes being a mom and wife look easy," Hailey also explained the challenges of being misperceived.
"I feel like I’ve fought so hard to try to get people to understand me, or know who I am, or see me for me. And people just don’t want to sometimes," she said.
Hailey added that there's "nothing you can do about that." "I’ve been in a position where I’ve tried to tell my side of a story or correct a narrative or tell the truth of a lie and then they go, Well, she’s lying. Imagine how trapping that feels," she continued.
Among the hardships that Hailey went through postpartum were rumors about her and Justin's marriage being on the rocks. She called the postpartum experience "the most sensitive time" she's "ever gone through," while learning a "new version" of herself was "difficult."
"And to be doing that all the while going on the internet every day and people being like, They’re getting divorced and They’re this and They’re not happy: It is such a mindfuck," she said. "I cannot even begin to explain it. It’s a crazy life to live."
The Biebers have faced an onslaught of gossip about their relationship for years, with Hailey even receiving death threats from some fans of Selena Gomez, Justin's ex. The ladies have been friendly in the years since, with Selena even speaking out in Hailey's defense in 2023.
