Hailey Van Lith Keeps It Clean and Affordable for Chime’s ‘Ball On A Budget’

"I can make anything shake with $300, so… we’ll take care of it.”

Chime’s Ball On A Budget series has tapped some of today’s biggest names in sports and entertainment to see if they can create a fire outfit for $300 or less. The series, in partnership with Complex, kicked off with Teyana Taylor in Los Angeles and then followed up with Queens jeweler to the stars, Greg Yüna in Miami. And while the aforementioned names stayed within the price range and created a dope look, none of them had the advantage that Hailey Van Lith does.

And what advantage is that? The guard for the WNBA’s Chicago Sky has a degree in finance. So, yeah, she won Ball On A Budget without even trying. The 24-year-old pulled up to The Pop Up in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood with host and sports journalist Ashley Nicole Moss to talk style and money.

“I feel like when I was younger, honestly, I was too lazy to invest the money I was earning,” she said. “Now, I understand the importance of not only investing your money but also doing research. It’s helped me in other areas, like how to live on my own and where I can splurge on myself,” Lith said.

Moss gave Lith a few occasions to choose from to keep in mind while shopping, and naturally, she chose the game day tunnel walk. “I have to choose that one because that’s what I specialize in. They sub me in just to do a tunnel fit,” Lith said, laughing.

Lith understands the importance of prioritizing certain things financially, and she also knows when to splurge. For the basketball rookie who just graced the cover of Sports Illustrated, Lilth confessed to spending a pretty penny on denim and the classic white T-shirt.

“A classic white tee gives you the vibe that you’re not trying too hard, but you’re still a cool girl, and I love that,” she said.
