Preston Ordone, known as the “Okay Baby” online, died in a car accident. He was 2 years old.
People reports that the incident happened on April 24. One of the last videos that Preston’s mother, Katelynn Ordone posted to TikTok shows her child telling her, “I love you” as he ran towards her.
According to a press release from the Louisiana State Police, Katelynn and Preston’s father, Jaelen, were driving a 2011 Ford F-150 when it "veered off the roadway to the right and struck a tree.” Authorities are still investigating the accident.
The statement adds that the driver and front passenger were “both properly restrained” but that they “sustained serious injuries” and were hospitalized. The police noted that Preston was seated in the back but “improperly restrained in a child safety seat.” He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Two family members posted a video to Katelynn’s socials, sharing more details of the crash's aftermath.
“Their truck veered to the right off the interstate and struck a tree and unfortunately Preston didn’t make it,” a woman called Brielle said in the clip.
"Katelynn and Jaelen are severely injured," Brielle added. "Katelynn has multiple broken bones. She had a very bad concussion. She walked for the first time today. Jaelen had to have emergency surgery on one of his legs. He has rods, pins in them. They’re both at different hospitals."
Brielle also shared that the couple's daughter, Paisley Anne wasn't in the vehicle at the time.
Preston’s grandfather, Glen Norris pushed back against the police’s claim that Preston wasn’t secured in his car seat. He told Nola.com that investigators’ statement was “hurtful and painful.” Norris also said he spoke with a witness who said Preston was properly strapped into his seat.
A GoFundMe page is raising money to cover Katelynn and Jaelan’s medical bills and other expenses. As of this writing, the couple has raised over $35,000 out of a $50,000 goal.
