Dionne Warwick has never been one to hold back, and at 84, she’s proving that age hasn’t dulled her sense of humor—or her sharp eye for calling out TV plot holes.
While recovering from emergency leg surgery, the legendary singer made it clear which series won’t be on her streaming list as she recovers: Emily in Paris.
The Grammy-winning icon first aimed the Netflix hit back in 2024. With her signature wit, Warwick questioned how Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins, managed to keep her job overseas without so much as a work permit.
“Emily goes to her place of employment every day in Europe. Is that the entirety of the show?” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter). When Netflix cheekily responded, Warwick doubled down: “Well @netflix has responded, but did not provide an adequate answer. I Googled it. She goes to work.”
Now, following a recent health scare, Warwick is still standing firm on her ban. After canceling her Saturday, September 6 appearance at the Soul Town Festival due to emergency surgery, she updated fans about her recovery and put out a call for streaming recommendations.
“As most of you may know, I’ve had to cancel a few shows due to emergency leg surgery. I’m doing okay, do not worry! However, I need some show/movie recommendations while on the mend. Not Emily in Paris. Love you all,” she posted on September 4.
Warwick later explained that the pain leading up to her procedure was so intense her doctor rushed her into surgery. “The last thing I expected was to have surgery the day I was to fly to London,” she wrote. “Pain was unbearable and my doctor rushed me into surgery thank goodness, as it could’ve resulted in something far worse.”
While she’s sidelined from touring for the moment, Warwick made it clear she has no plans to stop performing anytime soon. “I do what I love,” she said last year, according to E! News. “When I get to the point where the bar that I’ve set for myself, I can’t reach any longer, that’s when I’m going to wrap up my little ballet slippers and say, ‘Buh bye.’”
