Blac Chyna—now going by her legal name, Angela White—explained why her engagement to songwriter Derrick Milano ended last month.
In an Entertainment Tonight interview that aired Thursday, August 7, she said the split was a joint decision: “First of all, it was mutual,” noting that “sometimes in life people try to hold on to certain things,” but she’s “going in a different direction than Derrick.”
White, 37, said her focus has shifted to healing, parenting, and faith. “I feel like I just really need to focus on myself and my kids,” she said, adding that she’s also prioritizing “my spirituality and everything that comes with that.”
She shares a 12-year-old son, King Cairo, with ex-fiancé Tyga and an 8-year-old daughter, Dream, with ex-fiancé Rob Kardashian.
The two began dating in the spring of 2023 and went public in September. Milano proposed in October 2024 onstage during Howard University’s homecoming celebration. They announced the breakup in July 2025.
White emphasized there was no single incident behind the decision. “Nothing happened. Nobody cheated,” she said. Instead, it was “an ongoing thing—growing in different directions, for sure.”
Despite ending the engagement, she said they remain on good terms. “We’re really good friends still,” White explained. “I’ll still call, ‘Hey you good? Is everything okay?’”
She added that ending things before resentment set in was important for both of them: “I feel like it’s really healthy. Sometimes people stay in relationships too long. And then that’s toxic, and then you start to grow this hatred toward the next person.”
White also said she kept her children largely separate from the relationship. “I keep them out of it,” she noted. “When Derrick was around, he would be at his house. I would just be with my kids myself. When my kids are there, it’s full mommy mode.” She said the kids are “doing great.”
