Aaron Pierre is stepping into hyperspace.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the British actor, whose credits already include Netflix’s Rebel Ridge and DC’s upcoming Lanterns, has officially joined the cast of Star Wars: Starfighter, Lucasfilm’s newest standalone feature.

The project, now filming in the United Kingdom, is directed by Shawn Levy and headlined by Ryan Gosling and Amy Adams. Pierre joins a roster that also features Flynn Gray, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, and Daniel Ings, with Mia Goth and Matt Smith cast as the villains.

For Pierre, it’s a career-defining moment. His recent work has made him a rising name in both television and film, but Starfighter marks his biggest leap yet into blockbuster territory.

The movie is set about five years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and while Lucasfilm is keeping character details under wraps, the scale of the production makes clear this isn’t just another supporting gig.

Levy, in announcing the start of filming, called the opportunity to add to the Star Wars legacy “the thrill of a lifetime.” He credited Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy with inviting him to craft an original story within the franchise, one that moves beyond the Skywalker saga.

At the heart of the film is a new story thread: Gosling is believed to play a protector figure to a young character portrayed by newcomer Flynn Gray, with Adams cast as his mother.

Pierre’s role has not been revealed, but his inclusion in the main ensemble signals that Lucasfilm sees him as central to the future of the brand.

Pierre’s trajectory—from independent dramas to big-budget science fiction—underscores how fast he’s becoming one of the UK’s most promising exports.

With Starfighter scheduled to hit theaters on May 28, 2027, he’s now set to make the jump from rising talent to global recognition in a galaxy far, far away.
