During an appearance on Logan Paul's podcast, Charlie Sheen said that he almost died after he mistook heroin for cocaine one time in 1993.
At around the 4-minute point of the podcast, Paul's co-host Mike Majlak spoke about his own addiction to heroin in the past which prompted Sheen to open up about his close call. "You know, heroin is the one drug that I never did," said Sheen, who is now eight years sober. "I don't regret it, because I kind of made a decision and I didn't even know what it was based on... I saw heroin as, I would do it once and die or do it once and then need to do it every day until I died."
Majlak said that he wasn't wrong in assuming that about heroin, and Sheen said he knew that about the drug without having done any research.
"So I was doing... It would have been '93," he continued. "I was doing The Three Musketeers, but I had to leave and come back. I was coming back through Germany, and I stopped off in Hamburg. I was with this limo driver, and I said, 'Can you get me some shit?' ... I thought he knew I meant cocaine, right? So he goes into a bar and comes out. He hands a bindle into the back seat. It was a trip. I open it up, it's super dark. I grab a glob of it, I don't even have a spoon or a knife or anything... I got it up to my nose. ... There's one light from this pub, the dimmest light you can imagine, that catches the bindle for a 50th of a second, and I see that it's brown."
He spoke out to the limo driver and made it clear that it wasn't what he was after, and then he spoke back in a thick German accent when he realized what had happened. "He says up front, 'Oh schnee, you wanted schnee,'" he laughed, referring to the German word for snow. "I probably was that close to dying."
Sheen also reflected on how if he were doing drugs the same way today as he was back then, he probably would be dead because of the fentanyl crisis. His admission about almost doing heroin comes not long after he admitted that he did so much cocaine that a Mexican cartel cut him off, because they believed he was selling it on the side with how he was buying.
