Luenell apologized to Pete Davidson after an uncomfortable incident.
On Wednesday’s episode of Netflix’s Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney, the comedian, 61, ran her hand up 31-year-old Davidson’s leg during a segment in the show where guests were blindfolded.
The situation reportedly left the entire set feeling “uncomfortable.”
Luenell has since expressed regret over the situation in a statement made to People, saying, “I admit, I was tickling Pete’s leg during a segment of Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney; however, I did not mean to make Pete uncomfortable. I sincerely apologize. It was all done in jest.”
She added, “I hope Pete will forgive me, and I’m still willing to go out on a date with him if he so chooses. And I promise I won’t touch him again unless he wants me to!”
A representative for Luenelle also told the magazine she had no intention of making Davidson “uncomfortable” during the episode, adding she “was just being playful."
The incident followed Luenell’s earlier jokes about the King of Staten Island star’s dating history, which includes Kim Kardashian and Ariana Grande. She then teased Davidson about his ability to “continuously pull all these bad bitches,” including his current girlfriend Elsie Hewitt.
She then suggested he should take her out, to which Davidson replied, “If that’s what it takes to stop this, yeah.”
A source told People that Davidson had no issue with jokes about his dating history and was enjoying his time on the show until the interaction occurred.
“The whole set felt uncomfortable,” the insider said. “It was really inappropriate, but Mulaney stepped in and kept things going. Pete played along in the moment because he didn’t want to derail the live show.”
They added, “People believe they can treat Pete differently and view him as fair game for these ‘jokes’ because of their perception of him, but it was just wrong and shows an unfortunate double standard. Fans clearly agreed and noticed it right away.”
