Coco Jones is known to put raw emotion into her music. But in the workplace, not so much. Still, she couldn’t help but tear up during a special day this year.

In an interview with Variety published Friday, August 15, Jones revealed that she had just wrapped her final scenes on Peacock’s Bel-Air just days prior.

“It was so emotional,” Jones said. “Because I’m very much not a crybaby at work. I’m like, I don’t feel things at work, I clock in, thank you.”

Since 2022, Jones has played wealthy socialite Hilary Banks on Bel-Air, a dramatization of the classic Will Smith television sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which aired on NBC from 1990 to 1996. Hilary was originally played by Karyn Parsons.

For Jones, recreating Hilary was the role of a lifetime. And while she’s accomplished a lot in the years since — with both television and music — saying goodbye to Hilary proved to be difficult.

“[W]hen they were like ‘that’s a picture wrap on Coco Jones,’ it felt like all the last four years slapped me in the face and all the highs of being Hilary and all the time where I had to push myself because I would get off set and go right to the studio because I wanted music to be ready so I had to do all the things, I felt like it just slapped me,” Jones said. “It’s kind of like you had a baby. That was the hardest thing ever. I’m so happy, thank you so much and wow, I really, really pushed myself to the limit. Shout out to Corbin Bleu.”

At the time of writing, there’s no scheduled premiere date for the fourth season of Bel-Air. But those who can’t get enough of Jones can stream the “More” edition of her debut album Why Not More? which is available to stream now.
