Xzibit recently gave his thoughts on Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s rap beef and equated it to provoking someone who likes fighting.
The rapper recently appeared on the Johnny James' YouTube channel where he spoke on last year’s biggest rap conflict (around the hour and 30 minute mark).
“I love what Kendrick is doing,” Xzibit said. "I feel like I said this before—you don’t pick a fight with someone who really likes to fight.”
Xzibit then made it clear that he doesn’t think Drake has been defeated.
“Drake isn’t done. He’s not dead. Kendrick did not kill the man,” the "What U See Is What U Get" artist said. “He’s one song away from being back where he was.
“The perfect ending of this story is maybe they have a sitdown and talk about like Isiah [Thomas] and [Michael] Jordan,” Xzibit continued. “Getting some clarity on what their mind state was and they come to peace.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Xzibit reflected on the dark thoughts he had about the beef when it first started.
“In our era, we lost Tupac, Biggie and countless others,” Xzibit reflected. “So whenever I see something of that magnitude happening, the first thing I think of is who’s gonna die.”
Xzibit isn’t the only hip-hop legend recently to give his thoughts about Kendrick vs. Drake. Last month, RZA appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert where he briefly spoke about the feud. When asked if he'd been paying attention to the battle, he compared it to a fight between Godzilla and King Kong.
RZA also explained how hip-hop beef is valuable for the culture.
"It's valuable in hip-hop because hip-hop is a sport," RZA said. "It's a sport where we challenge emcees, we challenge the DJs, we challenge the breakdancers, we challenge who can make the best graffiti tag."
He continued, "It's good for the sport when there's confrontation. It's healthy, as long as it stays on the record and stays in the music, and it doesn't spill over to the streets where somebody gets hurt."
