Travis Scott has let it be known that he thinks Tame Impala’s new album, Deadbeat, is the best project to be released in recent years.
The rapper posted his opinion about the new album that dropped on Friday (October 17) on his Instagram Stories, sharing a screenshot of its Apple Music listing with words written over it.
"This is the best album to come out in the last 2 years Kev you went crazy," he wrote. "Like super crazy. Like bruh, Imma gonna call u soon because I just need to know something bruhhhhhh."
Scott ended his glowing recommendation with a call to action for everyone reading it: "EVERYONE LISTEN, BUY, PLAY, AND LIVE TO THIS."
Scott previously collabed with Tame Impala on the track "Skeletons" taken from his acclaimed Astroworld album. In a 2018 interview with Billboard, Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker broke down what the process of working with Scott was like.
"I did a lot of sessions with him, actually," Parker said. "What’s cool about people like Travis is that they’re just getting a bunch of people in the room and seeing what happens. For a lot of it, I was just a team player."
"At some points, there were 10, 20 people in the room," he continued. "You could just be there and hang out and not do anything for like an hour. And then something perks your ears up, and you can be like, 'Oh yeah, yeah, plug me in, I’ve got an idea.' We’d go for hours until three in the morning.
"But it’s not intense. Well, it’s intense because it’s the loudest shit I’ve ever heard," Parker continued. "I’ve never heard music played that loud in my life, and possibly never will. I’m talking huge speakers. These studios have these speakers that are like, 12 inches each. And they were blowing out. Your eardrums rattle. Even the hi-hats kind of make your ears rumble a bit. That’s fucking intense. After about a half-hour, I think your ears close up a bit so you can deal with it more."
In a 2020 interview with The Fader, Parker revealed that working with Scott had changed his approach to making music.
When asked about anyone who he’s collaborated with that’s changed his craft, Parker responded: "Working with Mike Dean and Travis Scott — Mike Dean was the main producer on Astroworld — was pretty inspiring, because it just made me see the big picture of what I was doing. Those guys just focus on a quality that they’re trying to get and they don’t sweat the small stuff."
