Freddie Gibbs has a response for everyone comparing him to J. Cole after a picture of a soccer player that looks just like him went viral.

The Newcastle United Premier League team posted a picture on social media featuring the silhouette of its recent signee, Yoane Wissa, to announce his arrival to the team.

Since he’s bald and has a similar head shape to Gibbs, fans began to joke that Gibbs was going to start playing soccer, just like Cole joined the Basketball Africa League in 2021.

“I feel you gang this like when Cole went to hoop right…Right?” wrote one fan in particular who warranted a response from Gibbs himself.

“Hey man fuck yall with this soccer shit,” Gibbs responded.

In 2021, Cole’s pivot to sports wasn’t a joke. The rapper signed a three-to-six game contract with the Basketball Africa League’s Rwanda Patriots B.B.C. He played a little over 45 minutes in three pool games and totaled five points, three assists, and five rebounds.

After the end of his contact, Cole took to Instagram to share a final message to his African fans for supporting him.

“So many thank you’s are due,” Cole wrote in a post. “Thank you to @thebal and to @patriotsbbc for the opportunity. Thank you to my teamates [sic], the coaches and staff for treating me like family. I learned so much in the few weeks we were together. Congrats on that win tonight and good luck next game.

“Thank you to the entire country of Rwanda and to the city of Kigali for hosting us,” Cole continued. “BEAUTIFUL land with BEAUTIFUL people. To anyone considering visiting or moving to the continent, from everything I saw and heard, I would recommend you consider Kigali and Rwanda in general.”
