Kid Cudi is among those who have been forced to evacuate due to the ongoing devastation of wildfires in Southern California.
The imagery coming out of the region has been heartbreaking, to say the least, with the larger tragedy spurring multiple would-be awards season events to push back their plans with an eye toward those most affected. Wednesday night, Cudi gave fans an update on his own safety while urging those in the area to not “hesitate” when it comes to evacuating.
“Had to evacuate my crib,” Cudi told fans in an Instagram Stories update. “I’m safe with my loved ones. Dogs are safe. For all the folks who lost their homes, people that are dealing with this, my heart hurts for you and I’m praying for us all and I send ALL my love to you and yours. If you have to evacuate, get out immediately. Don’t hesitate. Be safe, L.A. Love you guys.”
Wednesday, California State Parks reps confirmed that historic buildings and structures had been destroyed by the Palisades Fire. In a statement, Armando Quintero, State Parks Director, said the oaks system had directed “all available resources” toward the ongoing response effort.
“Our top priority remains the safety of the public, our employees, and the responders bravely battling the fires,” Quintero added.
As of Thursday morning, per the Associated Press, at least five people had been killed in the fires, which also included a harrowing blaze that erupted in the Hollywood Hills area on Wednesday night.
The Biden-Harris Administration, meanwhile, said Wednesday that President Biden had been receiving “regular briefings” on the situation in Southern California, while FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell is slated to travel to California later this week. Biden has also given the go-ahead for a Major Disaster declaration for the state, which will help those in need gain access to funds and related resources amid recovery efforts.
