Cardi B is once again fervently calling out some of the “lies” circulating about her on social media. In this specific instance, Cardi, no stranger to calling out all manner of bullshit, let fans and detractors alike know that a certain “narrative” involving an incident from her past remains as untrue as ever.
“Enough wit the lies,” Cardi said on Monday after catching wind of an X user who said the Invasion of Privacy Grammy winner once “sent grown men to beat on women over this same man.” The “this same man” in question, presumably, is a reference to Offset, who was recently accused by Cardi of sending harassing messages amid the ongoing wake of their latest public split.
“Where in my court papers does it say grown men touched any women ? NOWHERE!” Cardi said on X on Monday. “Why would I send grown men when my bitches get active and they came out and said it themselves? My co-defendants were WOMEN! Y’all got that narrative from somebody that wasn’t there!”
In a quick follow-up, Cardi continued, suggesting this claim was an ultimately unsuccessful attempt to “ruin” her career.
From there, Cardi briefly turned her attention to “another narrative” she says she “let slide,” namely that she sent women instead of men.
“If it was because of a girl messing with my ex then I would have ‘bout 30 cases on me but that wasn’t the issue,” she said. “I got into it wit them outside a hotel and I ain’t like the phone. Now was it the right thing to do?? NO! But I did the crime and I did the time.”
With the incident fully behind her, Cardi added, she can now “speak my truth.”
False information on the case in question, which is seemingly this one stemming from a 2018 incident at a Queens strip club, has circulated on social media for years. Monday's X updates do not mark the first time Cardi has publicly corrected those engaging in the spread of falsities about her.
The release of Cardi’s long-teased follow-up to 2018’s Invasion of Privacy, at one point expected to be arriving last year, is believed to be imminent. In February, she told fans the album was “complete,” though an official drop date has not been announced.
