Southside of 808 Mafia stated he will not collaborate with Gunna in the future, citing his loyalty to Young Thug.
During an interview with Drink Champs, the producer was asked if he would produce beats for the Atlanta rapper, and he responded with a firm, "I ain't making no beats for him." Southside elaborated on his decision, emphasizing that "right is right, wrong is wrong, I'm a street n***a at the end of the day" and that his deep-rooted friendship with Thug is more important.
"Slime been my friend," said Southside. "I made 'Danny Glover' for him. That blew him up, that's been my friend when he ain't had teeth in his mouth. He was signed with Gucci at first, so that's been my friend for a long time, so I can never go against what he say, like you know what I'm saying?"
He continued, "If he feels some kind of way about it, that's how he feel. He's the same way of me. If I feel some kind of way about something with somebody he just ain't gonna fuck with it, you know what I'm saying?Just cause I feel some kind of way, so I just like I can't do it."
He reaffirmed his stance, stating that if Gunna were to call him for production, his answer would remain the same: "Can't do [it]. Fuck what they got. Can't do it, you know what I'm saying? My dog is my dog, you know what I'm saying? It is what it is."
While Southside initially expressed reluctance to directly comment on whether Gunna "violated," he did offer a perspective from a "street-wise" standpoint.
"Street-wise, I would have never did what he did, like I'm just that's just me. Like you know what I'm saying, and if my brother did that to me, I feel some kind of way," said Southside.
Gunna and Southside joined forces in 2019 with "Gunna Swag" and then again in 2022 with "Order." However, given Southside's latest comments, that is all fans will get from these two moving forward.
