Rick Ross and DC Young Fly are having a back-and-forth on social media over comments the latter made about the rapper leaving an interview with the 85 South crew.
Over the weekend, Ross started things when he shared a post on his Instagram Story addressing DC, who went on the Rory & Mal podcast and spoke about Ross prematurely exiting his interview with 85 South back in 2021.
DC said it’s hard for him to say there are no hard feelings since Ross went to another podcast afterwards that wouldn’t mind asking him controversial questions when 85 South would respect him and not ask something that could damage his career.
According to Ross in a series of Instagram Stories (taken while wading in his pool), he showed up for the interview with DC, Chico Bean and Karlous Miller for “free.”
“I didn’t ask you what your analytics was and this and that. I came on face, homie, to show love. Don’t make it like I walked off on you. I came early. Rozay had some other things to do too,” he said, adding that he wasted time wearing his Gucci jacket. He also told the 85 South crew to prepare some lemon pepper wings for his next visit.
DC caught wind of Ross’ comments and wasted no time calling him out to set things straight, such as claiming the rapper isn’t the only person to do the show for free and that the show was doing well with or without his appearance. DC also extended the olive branch for Ross to come back to the show whenever he’s ready.
“Ross, you ain't the only n***a,” said DC. “Boosie did it for free. TI do it for free. N***a Busta Ryhmes did it for free. N***a Snoop Dogg did it for free. Everybody who sat on that couch do it for free.”
He added, “We do analytics. Our analytics. We was the biggest before you came and we was the biggest afterwards. So you always got room to come back to be on the biggest podcast in the world […] And the jacket n***a, you wore the jacket for no reason. Well, let me buy that Gucci jacket up off you then. So I can tell my son, I bought this from a n***a who left. He said that he wore it for no reason. It was a waste. So since we didn't pay you, I'mma pay you for the Gucci jacket.“
DC also said that there were wings in the studio from Wingstop for Ross to indulge in, but the rapper was more concerned with leaving than seeing that his conditions were met.
“And we respect when n***as got shit to do, bro. Just tell as soon as you come in, hey little homies, I got an hour. We going to try to get you in, man,” said DC. “We going to try to get you in in about 45 minutes so you can make it to your next destination. Don't pull up act like you doing us a favor. And then just leave here without saying something. Just say something so we can know what going on, gang. We ain't tripping, but pull back up […] So, Ross, get out the pool and give me a call. So, we So, we can get it together.
In his initial visit, Ross was halfway into his conversation with 85 South when he said he had to use the bathroom and left the set altogether. DC, Chico, and Karlous were confused until someone from Ross’s team informed them that Ross departed in an effort to catch a flight. Ross said in an interview with The Breakfast Club that his abrupt exit wasn’t out of spite but rather a result of being in the zone.
