Ariela La Langosta, a New York bartender with romantic ties to Daniel “Tekashi 6ix9ine” Hernandez, has died, according to social media posts from the rapper.
6ix9ine, 29, posted photos of La Langosta on Instagram on Sunday (Aug. 17) and wrote, “There doesn’t exist a prettier heart,” in Spanish. He also posted a still from his music video for “WAPAE,” which shows the two of them together.
The Instagram account for Manhattan bar Ikon New York posted a tribute to La Langosta with a photo of her wearing a cowboy hat.
“Today we lost our shining star,” the caption said. “Our hearts are broken. Your joy, your humility, and the way you treated everyone with so much care always made you stand out. ... To Ariela’s family, we are here for anything you need. We still can’t believe it… you were our smile, our happiness. We love you and we will miss you forever.”
Cardi B also shared a photo of La Langosta and wrote, "Rip Dominican pretty."
6ix9ine also shared a text exchange with La Langosta and wrote in Spanish, “Always jealous of each other to see if we still loved each other.” He added, “NY won’t ever be the same.”
Last month, 6ix9ine's longstanding legal troubles continued when he admitted in court that he had violated terms of his probation by possessing MDMA and cocaine, which were found in his house during a police raid. He faces sentencing on Sept. 25.
The rapper has been on supervised release following a 2018 racketeering case against him and other members of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. 6ix9ine was a cooperating witness in the trial in 2019.
