It’s been an eventful summer for Beliebers.
Nearly two months after releasing his seventh studio album SWAG, Justin Bieber blessed fans with its unexpected sequel. Bieber teased the project, aptly titled SWAG II, in a series of Aug. 4 Instagram posts, which included shots of the record’s simple pink cover art and its various billboards around the world.
Some of the promos included photos of Bieber with his wife, Hailey Bieber, and their 1-year-old son, Jack Blues Bieber. The Canadian artist had a similar rollout for the original SWAG, which hit streaming services just hours after it was announced.
The first SWAG, which marked Bieber’s first full-length release since 2021’s Justice, spanned 21 tracks and boasted guest appearances by everyone from Gunna and Druski to Sexyy Red and Lil B. The effort debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, moving 163,000 units within its first week. Although the numbers were respectable, SWAG was Bieber’s first album to not debut at the No. 1 slot.
Can he reclaim the top position with the SWAG sequel? Stay tuned.
You can stream SWAG II now on Apple Music, Spotify, etc. As Bieber playfully noted in several IG updates in the early hours of Friday, the album's streaming arrival was slightly delayed.
The project arrived as Bieber experienced changes within his career and home life. In addition to navigating his role as a first-time dad, he also settled a multi-million dollar lawsuit with his former manager Scooter Braun. Bieber also made headlines in connection candid Instagram posts in which he reflected on cutting off unnamed friends, his struggles with imposter syndrome, his anger issues, and more.
He alluded to the posts in the Druski-assisted “Therapy Session” track.
“I have had to go through a lot of my struggles as a human, as all of us do really publicly,” he said in the interlude. “And so people are always asking if I’m OK / And that starts to really weigh on mе… It starts to make me feel like I’m the one with issues and everyone else is perfect.”
