Fans are eagerly anticipating the release of pop star Taylor Swift's new The Life of a Showgirl album.
And they are scrutinizing a possible leak of alleged lyrics from what Page Six called a potential "leaked track" off the album. According to Page Six, fans are analyzing and debating whether the circulating lyrics amount to a "diss track" about Charli XCX — if they are real at all.
The song in question is called "Actually Romantic."
There is an entire Reddit thread devoted to the theory that, as one subreddit put it, "So… lyrics from The Life of a Showgirl have leaked from the album booklet and Taylor Swift has fully made a Charli XCX diss track."
Fans had mixed feelings on the Reddit thread over the allegation.
"I hope they work it out on the remix," wrote one.
But others announced they wanted to wait for the actual album and confirmation. "This seems to be stretching just a tiny bit... I'm sure it's about someone sure, but this feels like 2+2=5 to me," wrote one person on the thread.
The theory is also getting some traction on X.
However, the Fader noted that the photos and alleged lyrics they include are unverified. They are widely circulating on social media, but whether they are legitimate won't be known until the album actually drops.
According to Page Six, the theory developed because the song's title bears a similarity to Charli’s “Everything Is romantic.”
Furthermore, it contains the line: “I heard you call me ‘Boring Barbie’ when the coke’s got you brave," according to Page Six.
Again, it hasn't been confirmed by Swift that the lyric refers to Charli XCX.
Rumors of a feud between Swift and Charli XCX have existed for some time, and some fans believe a Charli XCX song was a diss track of Swift, according to the Fader.
Swift and Charli XCX "reportedly grew apart after Charli became close to Swift’s ex, Matty Healy," according to Daily Beast, which also reported on the diss track theory.
