The only person charged as an adult in the murder of lPop Smoke has accepted a plea deal of 29 years in prison.
According to Rolling Stone, on Wednesday (February 5), Corey Walker, 24, ahead of his upcoming trial, entered a guilty plea to home invasion robbery with a weapon, voluntary manslaughter and gang enhancements. In addition, Walker pleaded guilty to robbing Ameliia Rose, a woman who was in the Hollywood Hills home where rapper Bashar Jackson, known as Pop Smoke, was fatally shot.
Walker, who was 19 at the time, is considered to be the ringleader of the February 19, 2020 robbery and shooting, which occurred after the "Welcome to the Party" artist accidentally revealed his AirBnb address in an Instagram Story the day before. Those who are alleged to have also participated in the home invasion include a suspect who was 15, another who was 17, and Keandre Rodgers who was 22 at the time.
In 2023, the man who was 17 years old at the time of the shooting, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and home invasion robbery and was sentenced to four years, with two months to be served in a regional juvenile treatment facility. The other then-teen was also charged as a juvenile.
On February 21, Walker is scheduled to formally enter his guilty plea, be sentenced to 29 years, and concurrently serve two-year terms for robbery and manslaughter charges.
Last July, one of Smoke's convicted murder suspects, known as Blockstar, appeared on No Jumper to discuss the incident and appeared to show no remorse. Smoke's mother, Audrey Jackson, expressed her disapproval of the interview during a separate podcast appearance.
Pop Smoke, who was 20 years old at the time, was on a four-day trip to Los Angeles when two minors and two men broke into the rental home he was staying in. The rapper was reportedly pistol-whipped and shot by the then-15-year-old before the group fled. The shooter is expected to remain in a juvenile facility until he turns 25.
