Killer Mike Says ‘Being Monogamous Got a Lot Easier’ After Wife Pulled Gun on Him

Killer Mike claims he took monogamy seriously after his now-wife once threatened to shoot him while he was with another woman.

The Grammy winner was a guest on podcast Club Shay Shay last week and discussed his twenty-year marriage to Shana Render, with whom he shares four children. But before Mike and Render tied the knot, the latter pulled a gun on the rapper after finding him at another woman's house.

Around the 22-minute mark of the video below, host Shannon Sharpe asked Mike how "hard" it's been to remain monogamous in his marriage, which caused the rapper to reflect on a dancer he was previously involved with.

"I was smitten by this dancer, but I knew we weren't supposed to be doing [anything]
outdoors. My old lady didn't like this dancer," Mike recalled, adding that the woman liked him in a "lustful" manner.

But without his then-girlfriend being present, Mike said he was having "too much fun" at the dancer's place on one occasion before Render pulled up with a gun.

"I got a call. 'Hey, man. Maybe you should come back, man. We should run around, too.' I was like, 'Well, I am trying to get some cardio in [to] lose weight," Mike joked.

"And man, I got a call when I got in the door. ‘Say, man, [if you don't] bring your ass out that girl house right now? I'm going to kill both of y'all,'" Mike continued. "I said, 'What, man? Get out of here. Stop playing, man. I ain't even over there, man. You just seen my truck."

"I looked out there. My wife had my gun in that driveway, pointing at me. I was like, 'Okay, damn,'" Mike continued. "I was like Henry in Goodfellas, I woke up like 'Aye.' I got in that truck, man. She said, 'I ain't never seen your fat ass run so fast in my life.' Being monogamous got a lot easier after that."

After picking up the "RUN" artist, Render drove him to see his aunt Deborah, who said that she was disappointed in her nephew. "Oh man, I would've rather got shot," he said about her reaction. "After that the rules changed. After that I was just like, 'Man, I like you, but you just got to holla at her," Mike said about his conversation with the dancer. "'If you can convince her that we like each other enough and you ain't no problem, man, I love to do a twirl in the wind with you, man. But I don't want to get shot and I don't want my Auntie Deborah to feel like that again."

Mike spoke on another couple in the interview, Steph and Ayesha Curry, whom he extended an apology to after joking about their marriage.
