Hayley Williams has officially revealed that the lyrics of her track "Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party" are about Morgan Wallen.
The Paramore frontwoman directly named the country musician while visiting Popcast on the show's Wednesday (Oct. 1) episode. "Ego Death" appears on Williams' surprise album of the same name.
"I'll be the biggest star at this racist country singer’s bar/ No use shootin' for the moon, no use chasing waterfalls," Williams sings in the track's opening verse.
Around the 49-minute mark of the episode below, the vocalist stood by her lyrics. "It could be a couple [of artists], but I'm always talking about Morgan Wallen and I don't give a shit," Williams said.
"Find me at Whole Foods, bitch, I don't care. I just don't care," she continued.
Williams went on to embrace Paramore's Black fanbase, saying that the band referenced Black artists on their 2014 hit "Ain't It Fun." "But I do think that the amount of space we decided we were okay taking up and the places we were okay showing up in just let different people that hadn't really been privy to what we were doing, or what we were about feel maybe a little bit more welcome to come into the show," she said.
Although he’s a Billboard chart-topping success, Wallen has a controversial history, as he once used a racial slur in a leaked video, which he apologized for in 2021.
