The parents of Casandra "Cassie" Ventura want Diddy to receive a lengthy prison sentence after their daughter testified about the abuse she said she suffered at his hands.
In advance of Diddy's sentencing, scheduled for Friday (Oct. 3), the Bad Boy Entertainment founder shared letters asking for leniency with Southern District of New York Judge Arun Subramanian. Individuals like Yung Miami; his mother, Janice Combs; and his children praised the mogul's devotion to his family and asked for a light sentence. Opposing leniency in separate letters were Cassie, her parents, and some of Diddy's former employees.
The singer and model took the stand during Diddy's racketeering and sex trafficking trial this summer, which concluded with the hip-hop producer only being found guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution.
In addition to Cassie's letter to the judge, where she expressed fear that Diddy will enact "swift retribution" towards her if released, her parents, Regina and Rodrick Ventura have also asked for an extensive sentence. Diddy faces a maximum of twenty years and will be sentenced on Friday (October 3).
The Venturas wrote that the "horrific nightmare" for their daughter lasted for eleven years, a nightmare in which their daughter was "beaten repeatedly and exposed to harmful and copious amounts of drugs."
"She was held like a prisoner (kidnapping) by the defendant when her face told the story of a beating," read the letter obtained by Complex. "She was coerced to perform sexual acts with strangers/prostitutes for the defendant’s own sexual
gratification. None of the sexual acts were consensual as there is no consent in a domestic violence relationship. There was always the threat of violence."
The parents also wrote that the sentence suggested by the defense doesn't allot enough time behind bars, as Cassie will be "left to deal with the trauma of his abuse."
The Venturas called Diddy's actions, like orchestrating "freak-offs" and severely beating their daughter, "severe violations of human self-worth and freedom."
"Clearly a vile abuse of power coupled with an immense disregard for human life," they wrote. "To sentence lightly in this case that involved such vicious abuses of our daughters’ body, safety and dignity is to dismiss her very existence."
The parents ended by requesting that the judge "deliver a sentence that appropriately reflects the severity and depravity of the abuse, the breach of trust, and the suffering that our daughter experienced."
"The justice system must be a place where the voices of those who have endured sexual and physical abuse are heard, believed and honored with appropriate accountability," the letter read.
The request closely echoed Cassie's letter, where she asked for the music tycoon to receive more than eleven years in prison.
"As much progress as I have made in recovering from his abuse, I remain very much afraid of what he is capable of and the malice he undoubtedly harbors towards me for having the bravery to tell the truth," she wrote.
