Doechii made history as the third woman to win the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album in the 36 years since its inception.

In her emotional acceptance speech, the TDE signee shed tears reflecting on her critically acclaimed mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal.

“I put my heart and soul into this mixtape,” Doechii said. “I bared my life. I went through so much. I dedicated myself to sobriety, and God told me that I would be rewarded and that he would show me just how good it could get.”

With her mother in tow, she also thanked her, her engineer, and label.

“I know that there is some Black girl out there, so many Black women out there that are watching me right now and I want to tell you that you can do it,” Doechii urged.

“Anything is possible. Don’t allow anybody to project any stereotypes on you, that tell you [that] you can’t be here, that you’re too dark, or that you’re not smart enough or too dramatic or too loud. You are exactly who you need to be.”
