Matty Healy’s mom, Denise Welch, is happy her son moved on from Taylor Swift.

Welch made an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen this week, where the titular host quizzed her on Swift’s most recent album, The Tortured Poets Department. Swift discussed their brief relationship on several songs, like "Guilty as Sin?" "Fresh Out the Slammer," "I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)," and "loml.”

“Obviously, on pain of death, can I talk about that episode. But not being her mother-in-law is a role that I am glad that I lost,” Welch said as the studio audience gasped.

“Not that I have anything against her at all!" the British actress explained. “It was tricky.”

She added, “Listen, you're not allowed to say anything, and then she writes a whole album about it.”

Welch then praised her son, frontman for The 1975.

“Matty has taken it all in completely good grace,” she said. “He’s very happy with his amazing fiancée Gabbriette, who is gorgeous. We’ve moved on.”

Healy and Swift met in 2014, but didn’t start dating until almost a decade later in 2023, when they were spotted holding hands in New York City soon after Healy attended Swift’s Eras Tour in Nashville that May. The romance didn’t last, with the couple breaking up a month later.

That September, Swift and Travis Kelce sparked romance rumors after she attended some of his Kansas City Chiefs games. Healy began dating his fiancée, model Gabbriette Bechtel, in September 2023 as well.
