Stevie Wonder Reasserts He’s Blind After Speculation That He Can See: ‘You Know the Truth’

People have joked about the conspiracy theory that the legendary singer-songwriter can see for years.

There's long been a conspiracy theory and meme that Stevie Wonder isn't actually blind, and the legendary singer-songwriter took a moment to address the speculation that he can see during his recent show at the Blackweir Live in Cardiff, Wales.

"I must say to all of you something that I was thinking," he addressed the audience, as seen in the clip below. "I wanted to let the world know this, but I wanted to say it right now. You know there have been rumors about me seeing and all that. But seriously, you know the truth. The truth is, shortly after my birth, I became blind. Now, that was a blessing. Because it's allowed me to see the world in the vision of truth. See people in the spirit of them. Not how they look or what color they are, but what color is their spirit."

People have been joking about Wonder's blindness for years, but it's something that even he's cracked jokes about in the past, too. In a post shared on Instagram last year, Dr. Dre posted a picture from when he "bumped into" the 75-year-old and wrote, "Stevie said, 'It's good seeing you." Flavor Flav dropped by in the comments to say that he "always say the same to me," too.
