Playboi Carti's new album MUSIC is set to make a huge debut judging from the first week projections for the insanely hyped project.
As reported by Hits Daily Double, Carti's third studio album is set to finish its first week of availability with 250,000 album-equivalent units. Curiously, the figure doesn't consider physical sales, even though various CD editions and merch bundles are available via Carti's official website. The ATL rapper reposted the figures after news aggregator Hip Hop All Day posted about it not including physical editions, a decision they described as "odd."
In his repost, Carti added, "IT IS ODD."
Regardless of the reasoning for the projections not including physical editions, it's a notable achievement for Carti to bring in 250K with streaming alone. That's more than double the first week of Carti's 2020 album, Whole Lotta Red, which brought in 100,000 album-equivalent units in its debut week. Music is guaranteed to debut at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
As report by Billboard, Carti's latest became the most-streamed album in a single day in 2025 so far on Spotify, so it's safe to say Carti will be happy with the first week numbers.
