She also said that there's a lot she didn't share in her memoir.

In a post shared on Instagram on Sunday (Oct. 19), Britney Spears claims that she suffered “brain damage” at some point in her life.

She started the post by talking about the 2014 Disney movie Maleficent, which she described as “incredible.” She recounted the story of the film, and how the lead character has her wings taken from her.

“Not that this has any relevance with me but I do find it incredibly interesting,” she wrote. “I had a traumatic experience as some of you know at the end of my book where for 4 months I no longer had my private door and illegally was forced to not use my feet or body to go anywhere.”

The book she’s referring to is her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me. In the book, she detailed her experiences with the conservatorship that was forced on her by her father, Jamie Spears, her relationships, and suffering from postpartum depression.

“Trust me there’s [a lot] I didn’t share in my book and still things at this very moment I’ve kept hidden because it’s incredibly painful and sad,” she continued. “I do feel the logic and mindfulness in my body as ONE was 100 percent murdered and destroyed I couldn’t dance or move for 5 months. … I do feel like my wings were taken away and brain damage happened to me a long time ago 100 percent… I have of course moved on from that troubling time in my life and I’m blessed to be alive.”

At the end of the post, she pondered if she should visit the Vatican.

“It’s fun to tell stories at this point because this all might sound so silly but with what garbage literally is being said about me I said why not bring SUBSTANCE to the table,” she concluded.

In 2019, Spears was hospitalized and left with permanent nerve damage. More recently, People reported that her ex-husband Kevin Federline claimed in his new memoir, You Thought You Knew, that she drank alcohol while pregnant and did cocaine before trying to breastfeed their children. In her memoir, meanwhile, she said that she “never” had a drinking problem and “never had any interest in hard drugs.” She did, however, admit to taking Adderall.
