Surveillance footage from D4vd’s Hollywood Hills rental home is reportedly now in the hands of the Los Angeles Police Department.
On Wednesday (Oct. 15), TMZ reported that LAPD seized surveillance footage at the rental house last month while executing a search warrant in the ongoing investigation into the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose dismembered body was found in the “Romantic Homicide” singer’s Tesla.
The homeowner, Malden Tifunovic, told the outlet that the external cameras on the property would show anyone who went in or out of the house and could provide insight into Rivas’ whereabouts before her death.
Trifunovic said he hadn’t seen the footage himself in order to protect the privacy of his renters. He also claimed that LAPD has not responded to his request for a copy of the warrant or a detailed list of what was taken during the search.
As previously reported, Trifunovic has since hired a private investigator.
"Our private investigator’s work is still ongoing, and I don’t have any findings to share at this time,” Trifunovic told TMZ. “It’s still early in the process, and I want to respect both the LAPD’s investigation and the memory of the victim."
The 20-year-old singer’s Tesla had been parked a block away from the house and was towed to a Hollywood impound lot on Sept. 5. The lot is where police later found Rivas’ decomposing remains after tow yard staff reported a foul order.
Police said Rivas had “very likely” been dead for “several weeks” at the time she was found.
Rivas had been reported missing by her family in early 2024 from her home in Lake Elsinore, California. Friends within D4vd’s circle reportedly believed she was 19.
Since the discovery, D4vd has canceled his tour, indefinitely delayed the release of his deluxe album Withered, and moved out of the rental property.
Last week, it was reported that the “Romantic Homicide” singer transferred the deeds of his two Texas homes to his mother on Sept. 18, the same day that police were called to the Houston residence after someone falsely reported that there was a dead female in the home following a shooting.
The deed for the other home was transferred on Sept. 22.
In a statement shared with Complex last week, the LAPD said D4vd is not considered a suspect at the moment. The cause of Rivas Hernandez’s death remains unclear.
"The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not yet determined the cause or manner of Ms. Rivas Hernandez's death," the statement read. "As such, it remains unclear whether there is any criminal culpability beyond the concealment of her body.”
