Lil Scrappy recalled a shocking memory that he says left him “traumatized.”
On the latest episode of the We Playin’ Spades podcast hosted by Nick Cannon and Courtney Bee, the 41-year-old, joined by his mother Momma Dee, recounted the time strippers were brought to his 14th birthday party.
Around the 15-minute mark of the episode, the Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta alum recalled how his mother threw him a party in their neighborhood that featured grown-woman strippers — despite him being barely old enough to process what was happening.
“I think I was 14 or something like that. So I had a full-blown party, and we in the hood … Everybody came because they, you know, we poppin’ in the hood, you know?”
The event started with teenage girls present until Momma Dee intervened, replacing them with strippers.
“My mama had strippers in there, for my 14th birthday party,” he recalled, saying that when the girls came back to the party, this time with their parents, Momma Dee stood her ground.
“All the mamas came back like, ‘Hold on,’ said Scrappy. “[Dee] was like, ‘Yeah, this my house though … If you got a son in here that don't need to be in here, please take him out.’”
“I stood my ground, ten toes down,” Dee said. “‘Please call them out, get them up out of here. We doing some things.’”
Scrappy added that, despite the backlash, the party continued as planned: “All the girls came back. We continued the party.
“Bro, I wasn't even looking for nothing like that, bro. I was sitting there, like, the whole time like, ‘Strippers?’ … I look back at it though—that was traumatizing,” Scrappy said, prompting Cannon to laugh.
Momma Dee responded, “So you said pussy was traumatizing?”
Scrappy, visibly flustered, confirmed that after therapy, he now sees the experience in a different light.
“Most 14 year olds is getting bikes or something for their birthday. You giving this n***a bitches,” said Bee.
Momma Dee then justified her choices by saying, “Nothing against the LGBT community, but I just wanted him to chase pussy than to hold a purse.” (As explained by Planned Parenthood, a person’s sexual orientation is a natural part of who they are and it’s not a choice. Therapy, treatment, nor persuasion can influence a person’s sexual orientation.)
Later in the episode, the discussion turned to Scrappy’s upbringing. He revealed that Momma Dee sent him to live with his father while she “got herself together.”
Scrappy said that although his father was a “great man,” he wasn’t able to raise him effectively. Momma Dee chimed in, saying his father was “ordained” but didn’t have members in his church, referring to his failed attempt to pastor.
