Justin Bieber changed the caption of an Instagram post on Hailey Bieber’s first solo Vogue cover following online backlash.

The singer initially shared the cover on Tuesday (May 30) with a caption that recalled an intense fight where he told his wife she would “never” be on the cover of the prestigious magazine.

“Yo this reminds me when Hailey and I got into a huge fight,” he recalled. “I told hails that she would never be on the cover of vogue. Yikes I know, so mean. For some reason because I felt so disrespected I thought I gotta get even.. I think as we mature we realize that we're not helping anything by getting even. We're honestly just prolonging what we really want which is intimacy and connection.”

The questionable caption inspired responses on social media.

Hours later, Justin eventually swapped out the caption for a string of emojis.

Despite the online criticism, Bieber praised his wife in her Vogue story, telling the publication via email, “I’ve done a lot of dumb things in my life but the smartest thing I’ve ever done was marry Hailey.”

Elsewhere, he noted that because Hailey makes being a “mom and wife look easy,” it makes her an “easy target” for online attacks, something he’s been fiercely protective about.

The couple welcomed their first child, son Jack Blues Bieber, last August.
