Though it’s been more than 20 years since Destiny’s Child released music as a group, Beyoncé has always held it down for her former bandmates. And her sisters in music are always ready to slay at a moment’s notice.
During Bey’s Cowboy Carter Tour this past summer, fans got to see Destiny’s Child reunite in their classic three-piece lineup — composed of Bey, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams — at the tour’s final show in Las Vegas. Though the group has reunited quite a few times since disbanding in 2006 — notably at Bey’s 2013 Super Bowl halftime show and her 2018 Coachella performance — their latest reunion panned out pretty quickly.
In an interview on Watch What Happens Live that aired on Wednesday, September 10, Williams said the reunion was “just awesome, spur-of-the-moment.” She recalled that she and Rowland had “a little more time” to prepare for the Coachella performance. But for the Cowboy Carter Tour, Williams and Rowland had to saddle up right away.
“This one was, ‘y’all let’s do this,’ and we did,” Williams said.
Elsewhere in the conversation, Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen asked Williams if Bey’s upcoming Act III album is a Destiny’s Child album, but Williams remained tight-lipped.
She did, however, express that she would like to work with Bey and Rowland again in the future.
“Anything is possible,” said the Death Becomes Her Broadway actress. “To me, performing on stage is like that for me… I only like it with Beyoncé and Kelly. But as far as Broadway, I’m a Broadway girl… Music? I only want to do it with them.”
Williams joined Destiny’s Child in 2000, following the departure of former members LeToya Luckett, LaTavia Roberson, and Farrah Franklin. Williams is featured on Destiny’s Child’s 2001 album Survivor and 2004’s Destiny Fulfilled.
