K-Pop boy band BTS has been on hiatus since 2022, when each of its members began their mandatory service in the Korean military. While it’s been three years since the boys have given us music as a group, each of its members have released solo albums. Still, the group’s ardent fanbase is itching for new music from the band, and now we finally know when we might be able to expect it.
During an event for W Korea on Wednesday, October 15, BTS member RM was interviewed on camera. RM was asked about his plans for the end of the year, and he revealed that the next era of BTS is imminent.
“We're still preparing the album, filming the jacket, and filming the music video,” said RM.
Evidently, rehearsals for the aforementioned video are underway. Fellow BTS member J-Hope asked RM if he “want[s] to practice dancing.”
RM responded “I'm practicing dancing” before saying “Actually, I'll start tomorrow!”
He then revealed when the new BTS era will begin. “Anyway, please look forward to it at the end of March next year!”
BTS last released music as a group in 2020 with their album Be, which spawned the hit single “Dynamite.” They announced their hiatus in October 2022, as each of them were required to enlist in the military — as Korean law holds that young, able-bodied men between the ages of 18 to 28 must serve in the Korean military for 18 to 21 months.
Jin was the first member to enlist in 2022, and was discharged in June 2024. J-Hope, Suga, Jung Kook, V, Jimin, and RM all enlisted in 2023 and were discharged this past June. While BTS was serving, their fanbase — known as the "Army" — maintained their support for the individual members as they released their solo albums.
Since reuniting, the guys have been hard at work on their upcoming project, for which, the army has been waiting with bated breath. Thankfully, it appears the next BTS album will come sooner rather than later.
