Chipotle wants to feed your school spirit.
On Monday, September 15, anyone who shows up to a participating U.S. Chipotle wearing a college football jersey after 5 p.m. local time can score a free entrée with the purchase of another. The deal is Chipotle’s first-ever “Wear Your College Football Jersey” BOGO promotion, rolled out just in time for kickoff season.
Here’s how it works: order one entrée in-restaurant and you’ll get a second one free, but the free one has to be the same price or cheaper than the one you paid for. You can redeem up to five free items per check, but only the person in the jersey qualifies. The offer doesn’t apply to kids’ meals, online orders, catering, or delivery, so this one is strictly in-store.
The one-day promo also doubles as a spotlight for Chipotle’s biggest seasonal flex: Carne Asada is back. Starting September 4, the fan-favorite steak returned nationwide in the U.S. and Canada for a limited run. “Carne Asada was Chipotle’s most-searched limited time offer on Google in 2024 and the second-most searched limited time offer among all national restaurant brands,” the company said in its official press release.
Carne Asada is marinated, seasoned on the grill with cumin, coriander, garlic, and oregano, finished with lime and cilantro, and packs 29 grams of protein. Chipotle execs call it the perfect game-day bite whether you’re tailgating or streaming from home. “It simply can’t be beat,” added Nevielle Panthaky, Chipotle’s Vice President of Culinary.
And because Chipotle is leaning all the way into football season, the brand also announced a partnership with EA Sports College Football 26, where virtual athletes in “Road to Glory” mode can sign a fictional NIL deal with the fast-casual restaurant chain to promote Carne Asada.
While the “Wear Your College Football Jersey” promotion is new territory for Chipotle, the brand isn’t exactly a rookie when it comes to jersey-driven giveaways. Earlier this year, it brought back its “Wear Your Hockey Jersey” deal for the fifth straight Stanley Cup Playoffs, rewarding fans who showed up in their team gear with a BOGO entrée.
