Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, has announced that age-verified adults will be able to sext with ChatGPT in the near future.
In a post shared on X, formerly Twitter, Altman revealed that ChatGPT will get considerably less restrictive when it comes to adult-oriented content now. He said that, initially, OpenAI made the chatbot “pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues,” but acknowledged that it made it “less useful/enjoyable” for certain users.
“Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases,” he wrote. “If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing). In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our ‘treat adult users like adults’ principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.”
So there you have it, your own personal sext-bot or machine-generated erotica could be a reality soon, but only if you want it, as Altman stressed. Will it be like the robot sex we were promised by British tabloid The Sun in 2016? Probably not, but it will give people the opportunity to get off to a large language model telling them they’re getting freaky, and aren’t just a server farm in San Antonio, Texas.
Regardless, I’m sure nothing will go wrong here. Seems very normal and healthy to replace human connection with artificial intelligence.
